Althought I'll be watching the Miss America Pagent..... (now with Update!)

..... never fear, I haven't come out of the closet. As I blogged back in July 2007, Utah's entrant to the pagent is a member of the Utah National Guard, ergo, being a proud son of the great State of Utah, I want to see if she wins does all Utahns and members of the armed forces proud. She has already made history by being the first combat veteran in the pagent, so winning would make even more history.

However, if the Cap'n is reading this, rest assured, I'll switch channels to something more "manly" as soon as she is cut from the competition.

Update: Well, Miss Utah made the final 16, but didn't win. The winner was Miss Michigan who overcame anorexia and wants to perform on Broadway won. The judges didn't select her in the final 15, but she was America's choice (which makes sense. America loves the military), so she got in that way. Although Miss Utah runs marathons, she decided to wear a one-piece swimsuit and I think that is why she didn't make the final 10. Or it could be that the judges think that singing opera and overcoming eating disorders is more important than defending the country.

When she was eliminated, she dropped and did some push ups (followed by the rest of the contestants) and then walked off the stage. I wonder if that has made it as a YouTube video yet? Anyway, after she was eliminated, there was no other reason to watch (how many times can you watch beauty pagent contestants talke about how they want "world peace"?) and I changed the channel.

I'm glad that Canada is our ally......

....if not, I don't know what we would do with such a "world power" on our border. Canada has removed the US and Israel from its terrorist watch list. Thank heavens for little miracles because you don't want to piss off the Canadians. They might just run to the UN Security Council and then the US would be screwed.

Update to another election post

Way back at the end of July, 2007, I post this about why I would be voting for Mitt Romney. Fast forward to today, and I have decided to update my previous post.

Everything that posted before still applies except Thompson decided to actually run for office. However, he hasn't caught on like I thought he would and Huckabee has come out fo nowhere to challenge for the nomination. Since my thoughts about Giuliani and McCain haven't changed, I'll address only Thompson and Huckabee.

Thompson: Previously, I wasn't inclined to vote for Thompson because I really didn't know anything about him. Since July, I have learned more about him and I still am not inclined to vote for him. However, he would be my second choice since he is more conservative than anyone else who would be left.

Huckabee: Well, I am not inclined to vote for him due to the fact that he is 1) just another evangelical who says he only wants to "save" mormons but would rather they "burn in hell" and 2) just another corrupt politician from Hope, Arkansas.

So, I'm still voting for Mitt Romney. He's leading in the GOP delegate count right now and could go all the way. After Super Tuesday, things will be a bit clearer (we hope).

Yet another reason to not take the UN seriously

Yet again, the UN has shown why it should be disbanded: George Clooney has been selected as "UN peace envoy". 'Nuff said.
